چکیده

Temporal interpolation has been recently proposed as a solution for increasing temporal resolution or even for predicting missing or corrupted frames within a video sequence. In this paper new techniques on temporal interpolation are presented, by mainly exploiting properties of the very popular and highly efficient zonal based motion estimation algorithms, and by introducing several other techniques such as multihypothesis motion compensation, motion classification and temporal/spatial filtering. In addition we further give an analysis on when temporal interpolation should be employed, thus possibly avoiding unwanted artifacts created from this process, while at the same time significantly improving the overall performance of the interpolation.

Fire detection using video sequences in urban out-door environment

Nowadays automated early warning systems are essential in human life. One of these systems is fire detection which plays an important role in surveillance and security systems because the fire can spread quickly and cause great damage to an area. Traditional fire detection methods usually are based on smoke and temperature detectors (sensors). These methods cannot work properly in large space a...

A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO REAL-TIME DYNAMIC BACKGROUND GENERATION BASED ON A TEMPORAL MEDIAN FILTER

In many computer vision applications, segmenting and extraction of moving objects in video sequences is an essential task. Background subtraction, by which each input image is subtracted from the reference image, has often been used for this purpose. In this paper, we offer a novel background-subtraction technique for real-time dynamic background generation using color images that are taken fro...

New adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation

Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...

Performance Analysis of Motion Estimation Algorithms Based on Motion Activity in Video Sequences

Motion Estimation (ME) is a critical part of video compression. This paper describes in-depth performance analysis of three most recent motion estimation algorithms based on motion activity in video sequences. Latest H.264/AVC video compression standard has been used for the performance analysis of three types of ME algorithms, which are: Enhances Predictive Zonal Search (EPZS), Unsymmetric-cro...

Zodiac2: An Authoring Tool for Active Video Content

Conventional digital video playback systems provide only limited user interactivity, mostly in the form of VCRlike controls such as fast forward/backward, slow motion, pause/stop, etc. In this model, the temporal ordering and the spatial viewpoints of the video streams being viewed are completely determined at authoring time. In contrast, this work describes an Active Video system, which suppor...
